How to post an update on LinkedIn for daily engagement!

First find an article you want to share with your LinkedIn network.

Second copy the article URL.

Next go to the home page of your LinkedIn profile.

Click on “start a Post” and you will get a pop up that asks “What do you want to talk about?”

Then write a comment about the article or ask a question to generate engagement with your connections.

Next is add or Paste the article URL.

Click on the next button.

Add who can see this post. To be most effective select “anyone, or if you are on Twitter share the article on two platforms.
You can also add groups to post the article to or if you want JUST your connections to see it you can choose that as well.

After that hit advanced and select “allow comments on this post” to hopefully engage some of your connections.

Select #Hashtag’s you want the article and you to be found for and add them to your post.

One additional feature you should incorporate in an update is to “TAG” someone or “TAG” a company in the comments your wright about the article. When you “TAG” someone (@) or “TAG” (@) a company that will prompt a notification to you that someone mentioned your name or company name..

Finally click on the BLUE “POST” button.

LinkedIn Hashtags from your homepage. Directly underneath your photo and Headline. This is on the desktop version. I did not see it on the mobile version of LinkedIn, although you can use the hashtags it doesn’t show on the mobile version

Hashtags list. It gives a list of the most used or the hashtags LinkedIn thinks you will use most. If you click on the “see more” the list expands from 5 to ten most used Hashtags.

Hashtag communities. So what are hashtag communities on LinkedIn? They are hashtags that you can choose to add or pin to your list. When you click on them your home page feed will show up with all the posts and updates that are filed under the pinned hashtag.

Hashtags show more you will be taken to a page of different topics that you can follow. These look a lot like the old Pulse topics that you could follow and get articles to show up on your home feed.

I clicked on the hashtag for information science which is a hashtag I follow and up came the term information science and all the updates for that hashtag.

LinkedIn is taking a step towards Twitter and Instagram in keeping up with current digital features and making it easier to search on the platform.

Have you seen the new “Who has Viewed Your Updates on LinkedIn?”

LinkedIn just introduced this feature in June to all LinkedIn users. According to LinkedIn it’s a more personalized LinkedIn homepage. Yes, it is on your homepage not your profile page. It provides an overview of what you have shared with others on LinkedIn.

The “Who’s Viewed Your Updates?” will give you information of your most current update. The info graphic will show how many of your first, second, and third degree connections have viewed, liked, and shared your information with their network.

At the top right corner of the info graphic are two arrows and a number/number which is the compilation of your updates over the last two weeks plus totals of likes and shares.


Now you have  feedback on how the content you read and share resonates within your network, giving you more opportunities to build your unique value position and make connections with new professionals that share common interests.

How To Change The Updates On Your 2013 LinkedIn Homepage? Did you know it was even possible?

Most LinkedIn users don’t know it is available to do.

It’s easy as 123. Just start on your home page. Begin at the top

of the page on the right hand side by your avatar (picture).

When you hover your mouse over your picture a drop down will

appear.

You have seven options: 1) sign out, 2) account type, 3) Job posting 4) company page, 5) Language, 6)

privacy and settings, and 7) help Center. The choice to choose is privacy and settings. This choice will

take you to the settings homepage.

The four main categories are 1) Profile, 2) communications, 3) groups, companies, and applications, and

finally 4) Account. Select account then go to the middle column and scroll down under settings to

“customize the updates you see on your homepage”.

Here are the update choices:

New connections
Job opportunites
Updates shared by your connections
Updates shared by your extended network
Updates from followed companies
Trending news
Group discussions and changes
Questions and answers
Profile changes
Application updates

And, down at the very bottom is an additional choice of how many updates you want to see on your

homepage. Since the questions and answers are no longer available you can uncheck that option. Set up

the home page that is the most comfortable for you.
